Versacepolis, Versace SS21 collection

A journey into the underwater, where dreams meets reality

Versacepolis, Versace SS21 collection A journey into the underwater, where dreams meets reality

Versacepolis is an imaginary world with the appearance of an underwater city, a symbol of escape from the real world, offering viewers the opportunity to indulge in fantasy in a dream of escape.

Over the weekend Versace unveiled its Spring-Summer 2021 collection by immersing a (virtual) audience in an imaginary underwater world, transforming the set of the show into a utopian world created on the bottom of the sea, where the Medusa reigns and coexists with women and men.

"I wanted to create something disruptive, something that could reflect what changed within us all. For me, this means dreaming of a new world. A world made of bright colors and fantastic creatures, where we can all coexist peacefully. This collection has a fun soul and is optimistic, dreamy, cheerful... These are clothes that bring joy." - tells Donatella Versace.

The collection is inspired by nature, the models - including Irina Shayk, Adut AkechJill Kortleve - are sea creatures wearing dresses with ruffles and elements that recall the movement of the sea, with the iconic Trésor de la Mer print revisited in vibrant colors, shell-shaped bralettes, graphic shirts, recalling the SS92 collection in many of these elements. The attention is focused on new line of Medusa bags in pop colors as well as the Greca shoulder strap.

Natural inspiration can't go without the attention to the topics of environment and sustainability: the collection consists of jersey and piqué fabrics made of organic cotton, but also organic fibers, polyester and recycled polyamide for beachwear.

I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give a wonderful experience to all those fantastic people who worked with me to make it possible. The audience you saw sitting during the live show is not the one you usually see in the show. For the first time I was able to invite my team and have them sit in the front row. It's hard to express how happy I am to know that they were there to look at the result of their work and that, even for a moment, they lived the dream they helped create. - explains Donatella Versace.

The show took place with the doors closed, with the only participation of the team of people who work for the brand in Italy, in full compliance with health standards and regulations.
