The futurewear ofMarine Serre in her FW20 campaign The French designer's futurewear recalls the cult movie Dune

On the same day Dune remake's first trailer starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya was released, Marine Serre celebrates the cult movie in its FW20 campaign.

The French designer, and LVMH award-winner, explores fashion and possible worlds in a dystopian future with Mind, Melange, Motor, a series of videos made by Filature Agency

In this pluriverse, the uncanny, ambiguous, and obtuse are considered qualities, signaling realism, refined style, and insight. The hallucinatory endlessness of possibilities grasped, observed, faced, with eyes wide open.

Nomads, predators, rescuers, villagers, and witches wander through desolate lands, where the clothes hung out to dry in the snow are reminiscent of past lives, where the touch of a little girl blooms a meadow of flowers and the reflection of the sun's rays in a mirror makes us discover the new dome-shaped houses decorated with the crescent moon, the symbol of Serre.

In this post-apocalyptic world FW20 futurewear is the armor with which to face the unknown. The checkered suits, the bodysuits covering the face, the patchwork dresses and those with a carpet pattern, the white long dresses, the cocoon outwear are Marine's response to climate change and the disasters it causes. As the designer told Vogue, these clothes were inspired by a recent wildfire:

I use fashion to talk about what’s going on in the world rather than escape from it. The idea for this collection had been [evolving] for a while. In 2017, I went to Portland, Oregon, when the wildfires broke out. I drove up through the mountains and ended up surrounded in clouds of smoke.

Marine Serre's FW20 collection is already available online.
