The most anticipated store openings in Milan

From Uniqlo and Supreme to Primark and DCJ

The most anticipated store openings in Milan From Uniqlo and Supreme to Primark and DCJ

For some of them the date is already set, while for others, it's just a matter of rumors. Despite the pressure of e-commerce, big fashion stores and luxury brands not only keep moving, renewing, transforming, but above all they continue undauntedly to plan for new openings. In Italy, the choice often falls on the city of fashion, which in recent years has shown unprecedented dynamism and growth. Milan thus becomes home of some highly anticipated foreign stores that have been eyeing Lombardy's capital with growing interest so far. This is demonstrated by Patta, Dropout, Stone Island, CP Company - just to name a few - who recently opened their new stores here.

And as with any respecting happening, events on social media are proliferating and in some cases, there are already thousands of participants. In order not to miss a single one, we have gathered here the list of the most anticipated store openings of the upcoming months, along with an interactive map.

UNIQLO

The Japanese low-cost fashion giant arrives in Italy for the first time and wins the title of "inauguration of the year". After postponing the scheduled date from April 6th to September 13th, expectations have raised considerably. In Piazza Cordusio - which recently welcomed the first Italian Starbucks -, at number 2, there will be ten shop windows owned by the brand. The Uniqlo store will be 1,500 square meters spread on three levels (one of which is underground) and will also overlook an internal courtyard, with access from Via Santa Maria Segreta.

Where: Piazza Cordusio, 2
When: September 13th

PRIMARK

The opening date is not clear yet, but what is certain is that the Irish low-cost clothing giant will occupy the "damned building", the building in Via Torino 45 that hosted Fnac, Billa, Trony and that, one after the other, have closed inexorably. Primark had already arrived in Italy with a store in the Arese shopping mall but now its focus is the heart of Lombardy’s capital. The store will take up seven floors for a total of 10 thousand square meters and the rent for the building - the owners tried to sell it but the offers were not high enough - amounts to 2.5 million of euro per year.

GARAGE TRAVERSI

Rumors have been circulating since 2003 when the building closed its doors, and since then Garage Traversi has remained in a semi-abandonment state. Last year Invesco Real Estate took over the building from the private equity fund Hayrish and gave a boost to the works which, according to rumors, will end by June 2020. The building in Via Bagutta 2, designed by the architect Giuseppe De Min, will turn into a nine floors tower with a swimming pool overlooking the Duomo and with a panoramic restaurant on the roof

When: about June 2020

SUPREME

The debate of a possible opening of a Supreme store in Milan has been going on for years, but over the last few days, it was the NYC skate brand itself to confirm the rumors on its Instagram page. Not only a video shot at Central Station in Milan was published, along with the caption 'Coming Soon', but also the images of the new Nike SB Dunk were shot in Milan. The opening is approaching fast.

CANADA GOOSE

Canada Goose quilted jackets and parkas will be landing in Italy in September - the date is not confirmed yet -, in via Della Spiga 10. The Canadian store will rise in the heart of the fashion district, close to brands like Prada, Lanvin, and Chloé, and will mix style of the 50s and arctic mood, combining design elements from both Canadian and Italian heritage.

DCJ

Jacopo De Carli neither confirms nor denies in an interview with nss magazine a possible opening of a DCJ store in Milan. However, the success that the brand, which has now become an institution in the Italian sneaker world, has been enjoying in recent times, seems a good premise.
