The ten most valuable luxury brands in the world The first place hasn't changed in 14 years

BrandZ has unveiled the ranking of the world's most valuable luxury brands for 2019. For the fourteenth year in a row, Louis Vuitton takes the first place, achieving 15 percent growth in the last 12 months with a total value of $47.2 billion. In a press release we read:

“LV maintains its leadership through the success of its iconic leather goods and exceptional creativity throughout its product range, with a great balance between tradition and modernity.”

Much of the maison's success is due to its recognizable and powerful brand identity that transformed a precious cultural heritage into a series of products that everyone, adults and millennials (thanks also to the new creative director Virgil Abloh), continue to want. Chanel and Hermès reached second and third place respectively, awarding the prize as the nation with the most brands (6) in the BrandZ Top 10 to France. Italy stops at fourth and tenth place with Gucci and Prada.

Luxury is the fastest growing sector, as Elspeth Cheung, global BrandZ valuations director of Kantar, pointed out:

"Despite the limited number of people who can afford to buy luxury products, social media are spreading the opportunity to appreciate them more and more: they are becoming more easily recognizable by strengthening and improving the level of engagement on social media and renewing physical stores".

If you're wondering which brand is worth the most in the world, the answer is Amazon. The online retail giant founded by Jeff Bezos is valued at $315.5 billion, with an increase of 52% over last year, which managed to overthrow after 12 years Google and Apple that before 2019 have always competed for the top of the ranking.
