How to achieve the sunkissed effect with make-up

How to achieve the sunkissed effect with make-up Tips for recreating a tanned face (even without the sun)

Make-up artists call it the sun-kissed effect: it is the freshly tanned (and sometimes freckled) complexion you get on your cheeks after spending a day at the beach or in the sun. However, if this is not possible for various reasons, creating bronzing make-up using blush and pencil is the latest favorite make-up trend at TikTok and it is easy to see why the beauty look is gaining so much popularity. For one thing, it's fresh and natural: that bronzed look gives pretty and innocent vibes to any face and features, without going overboard. Say goodbye, then, to old-school orangey, over-applied fards, the sunkissed look of summer 2022 recreates the effect of a day spent outdoors without forgetting sunscreen. The result? A healthy, freshly tanned and completely natural complexion.

Not surprisingly, compared to the days when sculpting was all the rage, we are definitely seeing a shift towards the use of softer tones and more natural-looking techniques: Hailey Beiber and Addison Rae are big fans of the sunkissed look and Bella Hadid sported flushed cheeks at this year's Met Gala. Instead of the facelift effect - up the cheekbones - celebrities and their make-up artists are opting for a softer, more natural result right on the cheeks (and nose), playing on the 'sunburnt' blush look: a chic, casual and perfect summer look.

Greenlight then to blush and extra glow products to illuminate the complexion with a natural tan (strictly without lamps as you would risk ruining the skin). Prepare your skin with a radiant face base, choosing primers and bb creams with a glowing effect and golden particles. The blushes to focus on have innovative, subtle and impalpable textures with a soft-focus effect. Prefer rosy, warm shades that give the feeling of how the sun or perhaps a little exercise would make your skin blush. Alternatively, you can choose creamy blushes that can also be mixed with foundation. How to apply them? The difference from other blush trends lies here: dab them on the spots that are usually hit by the sun, such as the sides of the forehead, nose, cheekbones and chin. In addition, to amplify the sun-kissed effect, you can also recreate small freckles: with an eyeliner brush or eyebrow tweezers, take a small amount of self-tanner and dab dots on the nose or cheeks, in other words, on the areas of the face where freckles naturally appear. Start with a few, then add more until you get the desired result.
